Message from the Parish Priest

Dear friends in Christ,

Whether you are a long time parishioner who has called this church home for decades, a newcomer just settling into our neighbourhood or a seeker searching for answers to life's deepest questions, I am truly delighted to welcome you to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Busega Catholic Parish.

As we navigate the joys and challenges of this year, our parish stands as a beacon of Christ's light, a place where the ancient beauty of our Catholic tradition meets the needs of our modern world. We are a living community of disciples striving to grow in holiness and love.

A Place for Every Generation

At Busega Catholic Parish, we believe that every person has a unique role to play in the Body of Christ. Whether you are looking for:

  • Spiritual Nourishment: Join us for the celebration of the Eucharist and find peace in our Adoration Chapel.
  • Growth in Faith: Explore our Religious Education programs and adult faith formation series designed to deepen your understanding of God's Word.
  • Community & Connection: From our youth groups and young adult socials to our senior ministries, there is a place for you to build lasting friendships.
  • Service to Others: Help us be the 'hands and feet of Jesus' through our local outreach programs and social justice initiatives.

We are grateful to God that this year on the 19th July 2026, we shall be celebrating our golden jubilee. We celebrate this milestone with gratitude and honor.

We also thank God for those who were here when the parish was founded and those who are here currently. Many have been baptized, confirmed and blessed their marriages, we are indeed indebted.

Our Doors Are Open

If you have been away from the Church for a while, please know that we have missed you and our doors are wide open. If you are a visitor, we hope the warmth of our hospitality makes you feel at home. I invite you to explore this platform to discover the many ways you can get involved. More importantly, I look forward to meeting you in person at the Altar of the Lord this Sunday. If there is any way our parish team can support you or your family on your spiritual journey, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Parish Office.

May the Holy Spirit guide you and may the peace of Christ dwell in your hearts always.

Yours in Christ,
Rev. Fr. Richard Kakoma

About Mt. Carmel

Mount Carmel is a historic, fertile ridge in northern Israel best known in the Bible as the site where the prophet Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal; a dramatic contest that confirmed the Lord as the one true God.

The mountain later became associated with the Carmelite religious tradition and with devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel; the title has long inspired Marian devotions, novenas and the Carmelite spiritual family.
