Our Humble Beginnings

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish began as Busega-Nateete subparish under Lubaga Parish. The seeds of our parish were planted through the faith and determination of Maria Nagawa Kalanzi, who approached her relative, Late Archbishop Cardinal Emmanuel Nsubuga, requesting a church in Busega as she could no longer walk to Lubaga.

Recognizing the spiritual needs of the growing community, Cardinal Nsubuga celebrated mass in Busega on April 8, 1975. It was during this historic mass that he officially introduced Rev. Fr. Bazilio Babuumba as the first appointed priest of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Busega Parish, marking the beginning of our journey as an independent parish community.

"From a humble request for a nearby place of worship grew a vibrant parish community..."
